Leaders across the health care industries have been quick to see the value of the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which is used by companies to measure how quickly they need to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The SBTi is a partnership of the CDP (originally the Carbon Disclosure Project), United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and World Wide Fund for Nature.

AZ’s net zero targets were verified by the initiative in 2021. Royal Philips − the first healthtech provider to have Scope 1 to 3 targets approved by the SBTi – describes it as the most stringent pathway for a company to reduce its emissions.
