A mass yellow fever vaccination campaign is being launched in Faranah, Guinea, this month, following two confirmed and over 20 suspected cases of the disease. The campaign, which is due to begin on January 26th,will target 60,485 people in the district, following confirmed cases in two 40-year old men and an additional 21 suspected cases, from which three patients died. The Guinea Ministry of Health requested the vaccines from the GAVI-funded global emergency stockpile for yellow fever vaccine, which is managed by the International Co-ordinating Group on Vaccine Provision for Yellow Fever Control (YF-ICG).
