Final chapter for Daniel Chapter One owner

James Feijo, owner and operator of [Daniel Chapter One], a dietary supplement marketer that incurred FDA and the Federal Trade Commission enforcement, faces a potential prison sentence after pleading guilty to failing to pay more than $218,000 in employment taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. The Department of Justice on Sept. 15 said Feijo, 68, also pleaded guilty in federal court in Providence, R.I., to marketing and selling products making unapproved claims as cancer mitigation and treatment options. Separately, the Providence firm, which included a home-based church run by Feijo and his wife Trish Feijo, turned to the Supreme Court in 2011 after a lower court upheld FTC's order that the firm made misleading and unsubstantiated claims, including curing cancer, for its shark cartilage and herbal products. Prison for head of salmonella-tainted peanut firm

The former head of Peanut Corporation of America was sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for convictions on charges linked to salmonella-contaminated ingredients and products that caused widespread illness and multiple deaths from 2007 through 2009. The Department of Justice on Sept. 22 said Stewart Parnell, 61, of Lynchburg, Va., the former owner and president of PCA, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia to 336 months incarceration followed by three years of supervised release after being convicted a year ago on 64 counts of conspiracy, mail and wire fraud and sale of misbranded food. Restitution orders will be made later for Parnell and other PCA executives, including his brother, also convicted on multiple charges in the case prosecuted in Albany, Ga.
