Transcenta Holding Ltd. announced a $100m series B+ round on 8 January that was co-led by CR-CP Life Science Fund and Fortune Capital. The Chinese firm with facilities in Hong Kong, Suzhou and Hangzhou is equipped for the discovery, development and manufacturing of antibody-based therapeutics in oncology, bone disorders and nephrology. Transcenta, which has raised a total of $230m to date, will use the series B+ proceeds to develop a second-generation Claudin 18.2 antibody, a PD-L1/TGF-beta bispecific antibody and continuous manufacturing capabilities. The company also will strengthen its senior management team in preparation for an initial public offering. Its pipeline includes blosozumab, an antibody to sclerostin that was licensed from Eli Lilly & Co. last year, five years after the big pharma completed a pair of Phase II studies.
