Azafaros BV in Leiden, The Netherlands, said on 6 February that it closed a €25m ($28m) series A round led by Forbion with participation from BioMedPartners and BioGeneration Ventures. Azafaros launched in 2018 to translate research from Leiden University (LU) and Amsterdam University Medical Center (Amsterdam UMC) into novel oral disease-modifying treatments for rare genetic metabolic disorders, including lysosomal storage diseases, and has rights to a library of compounds patented by LU and Amsterdam UMC scientists.
